Another Children's Book I did for school; it was for Digital Painting class.
This time, my concern was how to put 'hand-drawing/painting feelings' to digital works. So I went with this simple idea of using hand drawing and paint digitally. Both my teacher and I surely liked the result. It's a story about; A gigantic turtle that eats everything sitting at the end of world. One day he ate (accidentally) the sun of the world so there's only darkness left. The king of the people sent a knight to see what's going on. So the knight start a journey to the end of the world. Finally he met the turtle but as soon as the turtle noticed there's something (to eat), it swallowed the knight. The end? Maybe or not. Hand drawing on tracing paper / Painted with Corel Painter / Edited with Photoshop. One of my favorite works I've done.
Actually, it's on going project; picking up abstract word or idea and personifying it as image. So far, there are 6 of them, and my plan is doing at least 6 more so that I can make a calendar :) It will probably take time since there're multiple projects going on. All done with Watercolor on 'watercolor postcards.' It's a story about a kid who wants to hide and isolated from others but also wants to be with them at the same time.
It was almost right after I came to US from Korea So the story probably reflects what I felt at that time; wanted to be one of 'them' but also at the same time 'scared' of it. It's a happy ending story, but only 4 pages done. (oops~) Water Color |
